Since July 2017 I have escorted 3 of my cat angels to the Rainbow bridge.  Yesterday, it was Alice N Wonderland's turn.  She was 17 1/2 and for the 15 years that she lived with us she was always a quiet and gentle cat.  All 3 had kidney failure.  A disease that seems common to older cats.  She will be missed and the house IS much BIGGER since yesterday.

Fortunately, I still have Sophia Loren, an active 5 year old cat.  Without her today I would be in extremely low spirits.  I have loved each and every cat or dog that I've had with all my heart and have tried to be with them until their very end which I think is so important.  I did have 3 cats that disappeared into the forest at various times and that was heartbreaking not knowing what really happened to them.

In a month or so after my vacation I will go to the SPCA and get a companion for Sophia as she has always had brothers and sisters around her.  It would be too lonely for both us otherwise.  In my heart I know that I did every thing I could for Alice up until the very, very end but it is still very painful to have to go through it.

This is a fabulous website which gives us a forum to release and share our sorrow with others and realizing that there are other people which are going through the very same thing.

Blessings to you all and may you find peace soon.

Hello Jean,
Saddened by your loss of dear Alice,
Reading your story, comes through loud and clear as to how much you truly loved Your pets. You do have a big Heart ! Know, you did right by Alice and your beloved previous two. They look to US as their caregivers to do the right thing for them and that You did. Grief is the price we pay for love and as such it endures as long as love does forever. Having lost my wee chihuahua, 1 mo, age 16y. I tell myself that, we decide so that they are no uncomfortable. They leave our Lives-- but Not out Hearts. Peace in going forward.                                   Sherry/Perryxx

Thank you both for taking the time to reply.  It helps a great deal.  You are right, Sherry, that they stay in our hearts forever.  All the happy memories are there and bring comfort in those moments of sorrow.

Blessings to you both,
Jean
