We lost our precious Molly in July 2017 unexpectedly from kidney failure. She was 9 years old and it was extremely hard on my family. Today, we are putting down our other dog (February 2018) Jack, and I feel so hard for my parents. I am a student at University, and I moved away, leaving them to be empty nesters. They have suffered through so much pain, by losing our hedgehog to giving away our cat, to losing our lifelong neighbor all in the course of 2 years. Everything is changing for them. Losing Jack is sad, but it has been coming for a long time, and he is an older dog. Losing Molly was impossibly hard, and I just don't know what my family is going to do. We grieved so hard for Molly and still feel we are grieving. Losing Jack is just messing them up so badly. We are also not a family that shares our emotions well with each other. Anybody out there who has lost two pets in a year?

Feeling heartbroken... </3

I'm so sorry for your losses -- oh my goodness -- no I have not lost 2 pets in that close a time period, however as we grieve the loss of our cat, Tony, our older cat, Meena, is dealing with kidney issues -- she is very thin and has gone blind.   She has adjusted well to the blindness but we fear, since she is very fragile and there's only so much the special k/d diet food can do -- that we may be facing a second loss sooner than we feel we'll be able to bear.   In many ways, we've lost so much of how she used to be ... it is like a prolonged loss like when an aged loved one declines for a very long time.
I wish you peace and emotional healing and I'm so sorry you're going thru this.

I am so sorry for your loss and your parents loss.

My boys passed 11 months apart to the day.  The first was unexpected, the second was our 'sick' dog.

It was a very difficult time.  My darkest times .. I got through somehow and now it is mainly fond memories.

We love them so much, so it hurts that much when they leave.

Hugs.

I have just finished posting a message titled "Third time around".  I've lost 3 cats since July 2017.  The last one only yesterday evening.  It's very hard and each time my heart breaks into pieces.  But, as my vet says, the greatest gift we can give our pets when they are very ill is to help them to get to the Rainbow Bridge with us holding them as they transition.

Blessings to all of you,
Jean
