Hi. Well, it's been one week since we brought out new rescue dogs Lila and Monty home. Lila is about 3, Monty about 11 months. The shelter that we got them from is the same one that we got Foster from 13 years ago, my heart is with that place. They both came from somewhere down south, Monty was at the animal control for 2 months, Lila we are not sure of her story.
It still feels odd, I still miss and talk to Foster everyday. I tell them all about Foster. These guys definately did not replace Foster, they are different from him with some similarities. They have given me a reason to get up in the morning (I set breakfast time for 8am...). We are looking into training and I will probably start by the end of this week or next week. They are good pups. Lila is a bit shy but warms up pretty quick, she loves to just stand by you and get petted. She's not a big fan of eating or taking pills. She had been incontinent when we brought her home (maybe that is why she was given up?). So the vet came over two days after we had her (we have a house call vet that we used when we sent Foster to heaven) and did an urinalysis which was fine. She wanted me to give it a week and see if it stopped on it's own...because of all the changes for Lila. I couldn't wait a week and i had them drop off the medication on monday and I gave it to her right away and not one drop of urine has leaked out since. yay! Monty is just a silly little pup who loves to terrorize his sister. He bites her legs and ears and hops around like a nut. He loves to lick faces, a lot. They didn't know each other from the animal control or at the shelter but they got along great and they get along great now. right now they are laying next to me and his front feet are touching her back feet. We had a good day today resting out in the yard. They played a bit and then napped while I napped too. We listened to the chimes, the wind rustle the leaves and let the sun warm our bellies. It's different having two. But it's good. I will never forget my Foster and the bond that I have with him. He was my one and only, he never liked to have other dogs hanging out here for too long. Foster used to sleep in the bed and so it is weird that they both sleep on the floor (they are both housebroken, yessss!) and I just want to pick them up and put them up there! Eventually they might but i don't think that they will be able to jump up there- I think it's too high for the both of them. I do think Lila might have been better off as an 'only' too, but when i see her try to bite Monty's feet and play with him a little, I am glad that I could give that to her too.

awwww, it sounds like home is becoming "home sweet home" for all of you. My last 2 dogs were always too small to jump up on my tall bed so I keep an ottoman near the side of my bed. It's one leap up onto the ottoman and then one leap up onto the bed. I only once had to pat the ottoman and they jumped right up and then patted the bed and they jumped right on.... They love it :-}
Foster is right there with all of you, he is verrrry happy you made room in your heart for more. Sandie
