I've had my Cookie since he was 6 months old. When I was old enough, I moved away to college and my mom and brother cared for him. Since I've been in college, I have not been a part of his life the past 5 years. He was old and couldn't get around anymore. He could barely walk and kept getting attacked by the neighborhood dogs. The dogs would attack Cookie through MY fence and tear him up. My mom kept chasing them off but they always managed to injure Cookie bad. We made the decision to put him to sleep and I wasn't there because I'm still away from home. Now I cant stop crying because I have immense guilt. Guilt over not being there. Did he even remember me? Now my other dog, Shadow, is alone. I've been crying uncontrollably and I cant stop.

Hello,

I am so very sorry for you loss of Precious Cookie, especially around the holidays.

Of course your pup remembered you. You were still a big part of his life even though you grew up and went to college.

I am sorry to hear about the neighbor's dogs hurting Cookie. I hope the situation can be made safe for your Shadow.

Just know folks here share your pain and are here for you.

Take good care,

Robin
