Just an hour ago I got a phone call from a man that found my cat dead in the road. He got the number from his collar and brought him to my house in the back of a pick up truck.
His name was Church, he was only one year old. He was a big part of my life and I loved him so much. He was dark grey / silver with emerald eyes, and very naughty and mean but also sweet. He loved people, would beg to be carried around. We’d take him on walks around the house and he’d just melt into your arms.
Just last night we were playing with his toys. He was attacking my carpet, trying to play-fight me, being a crazy boy. I gave him his “treat-treats”. I don’t know when he got outside, but his body was already stiff when that man found him. His eyes are still open. The metal on his collar is bent. He’s in a bag on a table, waiting for the rest of my family to come and bury him.
I feel physically sick. This has never happened to any of my pets before. I just want to go back to what I was doing before I got that phone call. Don’t know how to get through this day. I’m going to miss him so much.

Sorry for loss of your beloved Church. I am going through something similar so I know your pain. I have not been able to talk about it yet. I pray foryou and your family during this time of sorrow.

It’s been really tough. We buried him in the backyard under a tree with his food bowl and some favorite toys, the last toys he played with. We talked and cried all day long and I cried all night. It’s hard going about my day, doing certain things that used to involve him. He doesn’t follow me up the stairs when I get home, he isn’t in the hallway when I open my door. I want to find something to distract myself, like exercise or go on a drive. I have the hair ties we would play with on my wrist.

I'm really sorry for your loss.  Last Wednesday I had to put down my beloved cat Lola.  One thing that helped me and my family was having a memorial service.  I dragged a large rock from the ocean shore to my garden and painted Lola's name on it.  Our family all wrote notes to Lola and buried the notes under a perennial that we planted for her.  I leave a candle outside next to the stone every night.  I found that memorializing Lola has helped me with the grieving process.

Take care.

I am so very sorry for your loss. The idea of a memorial that Squeakers suggested is a good one. I made a memorial for my cat Green Bean and I visit every day. It helps. Some times I feel like Green Bean is reaching out to try to comfort me.

I have no doubt that the three of them are playing at the Rainbow Bridge (probably trying to cheer up Grumpy Cat!).

God bless and keep the faith.
